Bear Creek Overlook- Hidden In Plain Sight

Bear Creek Overlook is one of the places we featured in our article about Bear Creek back in July. You can read that article here. In the article, we only posted a few photos of the overlook.

In the video above we wanted to show you a different perspective on the overlook. Since the article in July, I have earned my FAA commercial UAS license. This means we are able to give you a whole new perspective on some of the places you might want to trek out and explore.

The Bear Creek Overlook is located in the town of Self, Arkansas. The population is 18 according to the sign posted at the railroad crossing. You can use the map below to give you an idea of how to get here.

The title says “hidden in plain sight” because you could literally drive right past and not see it. Dubuque road here is lined with trees so the only indication you are at the right place is that the road is a little wider right here. Even though we have been here a number of times to take photos, it is still hard to see exactly where the small trail is.

Walking from the side of the road there is a small trail that is only a few feet long. At the end of the trail is a large rock and you can see the spectacular view across the valley with Bear Creek below.

Watch the video above to see some of the views which you can see from here. Be careful around the edge of the bluff. A fall here would not be good for your continued health and wellness. If you are afraid of heights this may not be the place you are dying to visit. If so, just sit back and enjoy the video above from your screen.
