This video shows you how to make a homemade DIY wood cleaner and polish using only a few natural ingredients. Clean and polish your wood to make it look brilliant and to preserve your precious wood furniture.
How It Works
White vinegar is acetic acid, and it is a great cleaning agent. When you dilute white vinegar with water you get a very mildly acidic cleaning solution. For cleaning wood this solution works great. It will gently clean the wood and help strip any wax buildup. It leaves the wood ready to absorb the oil we are using in the recipe to nourish and condition the wood.
The addition of an oil such as the grapeseed oil used in the video helps to polish the wood. You can use other natural oils you have around the house such as olive oil, or another carrier oil such as sweet almond oil.
Adding your favorite essential oil to the mixture helps give your home a naturally fresh and clean scent. Using citrus oils like sweet orange as I do in this video, or lemon oil will leave your home smelling clean and fresh.
Recipe
- 1 Cup Distilled Water
- 1/4 Cup Distilled White Vinegar
- 2 Tbsp Carrier Oil (
Grape seed , Sweet Almond, Fractionated Coconut, etc.) - 10 drops of essential oil (Sweet Orange, Lemon, Cypress, Cedarwood, etc.) Buy essential oils here.
Directions
Combine all ingredients in a dark amber or blue, glass spray bottle. Shake well before each use. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe and polish the wood. You can spray directly onto the wood, or spray on the microfiber cloth and wipe on the wood.
