Uplifting Mental Clarity Blend

Uplifting Mental Clarity Blend

When you are stressed from a long day, you have a project deadline approaching or you simply are needing some mental clarity and an emotional uplift, this is my favorite essential oil blend. I call it the Uplifting Mental Clarity blend because it uses three essential oils which blend well and have an amazing scent. The reason this Uplifting Mental Clarity blend work is that by using three essential oils, one from each note, that have different properties that blend together so well you can experience a boost in mood while it calms and clarifies the mind for important thoughts or tasks.

Essential Oils Used In This Blend

Sweet OrangeCitrus Sinensis. My personal favorite of the citrus oils is Sweet Orange. You can substitute any of the citrus oils for the sweet orange in this blend. They all contain uplifting properties.

The terpenes present in Sweet Orange essential oil include Limonene, a-pinene, Linalool, and octanol. Limonene is the major terpene found in all citrus essential oils. That is why whichever citrus essential oil you prefer can be used in this blend. They all have very high levels of Limonene. It is said to have an energizing and uplifting effect. This effect has the benefit of making you feel warm and happy.

Sweet Orange, and really all citrus essential oils, are used as the top note in essential oil blends. The top note will be the initial scent you detect as these oils are usually the most volatile oils and will evaporate first in the diffuser. They tend to be light, refreshing and uplifting.

Sweet Orange essential oil has many other health benefits as well. So not only will you get an immediate uplifting and energizing feeling from the Sweet Orange essential oil, you’ll get additional underlying health benefits such as eliminating toxins from the body and aiding in digestion.

CypressCupressus sempervirens. Cypress essential oil is the mid note in this blend. The three main terpenes in Cypress oil are α-pinene, carene, and limonene. Once again we find the uplifting properties of α-pinene and limonene. Besides the uplifting properties α-pinene is known to have renewing properties as well.

So with this blend, the renewing and uplifting properties continue when using Cypress essential oil as the mid-note. Cypress also has a fresh outdoor woodsy scent which is refreshing and can help clean the air.

SandalwoodSantalum spicatum. Sandalwood is the bottom, or base note in this blend. The main terpenes in Sandalwood essential oil are alpha- and beta- santalol. Studies have shown that Sandalwood essential oil has a relaxing and calming effect. But the relaxing and calming effect from Sandalwood does not promote drowsiness like Lavender oil does. Another study found that Sandalwood oil has the effect of promoting a “present, clear but calm awareness”. It also appears to relieve anxiety and promote calmness.

In addition Sandalwood essential oil has the effect of promoting memory and increasing mental awareness and clarity. These properties explain why Sandalwood has been used in religious ceremonies for thousands of years.
