This video shows you how to make homemade lip balm using essential oils. I made this video for another blog but since it uses essential oils we thought this would be a great addition to our DIY video library for the readers of this site too.
The process of making homemade lip balm is a little more involved than some of my other videos. However, this homemade lip balm is great for your own use, and they also make great gifts.
Ingredients for Homemade Lip Balm
You’ll need to have the following on hand before you get started:
You can click the links on each of the ingredients above to purchase them from Amazon. This will give us a small affiliate fee which we use to keep the blog running.
You’ll also need a double boiler to melt the ingredients. You don’t need to buy a double boiler for this though. Just fill a pan with water and use a glass measuring cup as I do in the video. This makes it easier to pour the finished product into small containers.
For other projects, I just repurposed a glass mason jar that I use for that purpose only. You can reuse it as needed.
Making The Homemade Lip Balm
In the video, I show you some tips I have learned. One tip is to melt the beeswax first. Since the beeswax takes the longest to melt, once you get it melted the other ingredients will melt faster since the temperature is already where it needs to be.
I also show you a really simple way to store your lip balm and keep the different flavors separated.
In the video, I show using vanilla oil and spearmint to make the balms. I also make them using citrus oils such as Lemon and Sweet Orange essential oils.
Try making some of these homemade lip balms and let me know how it worked for you in the comments.
Also, feel free to ask any questions you may have about making them.
